FASHION CAMP - NIGERIA

Introducing Fashion Camp (FC), the brainchild of Nigerian UK based uber stylist and fashionista Arieta Mujay. FC was borne as a result of the lack of African fashion mentors and mentoring programmes in the fashion industry in Africa. According to Ariety, fashion is an art form that evolves and young talents need to be nurtured and encouraged as a result.

The first of its kind in Lagos, FC aims to help 13-18 year old teenagers (older crowds welcomed!) with an interest in fashion, to learn and understand the ins and outs of the fashion industry. It therefore aims to impart a first hand account of what it is really like to work in the fashion industry and to share knowledge on the prerequisite steps one has to take to achieve one’s goals in the fashion world.

With the help of Biki John, another UK based Nigerian stylist and fashion writer and a collaboration with Deola Sagoe, the week long fashion seminars will include classes on photography, styling, the art of design, fashion PR, blogging etc alongside visuals and graphics. Through this, FC hopes to paint a precise picture that shows both how African and contemporary fashion have evolved and what lies ahead for the future.

Guests speakers at daily seminars / lectures will include Deaola Sagoe, Uche (Bella Naija Founder), Amy Jako, Veronica Ebie (This Day) and a surprise guest star.

The dates for FC are the 2nd to 8th August 2010. Registration fees are 70,000 Naira per person and the venue is:
Deola Sagoe Flagship store
Ajose Adeogun
Victoria Island
Lagos
